There is no real difference. Synthetic roofing and composite roofing are two names for the same category: molded shingles that give you the look of slate or cedar shake without the drawbacks of either. Manufacturers use the two words interchangeably, so the label matters far less than what the shingle is actually made of.
Most homeowners stay with asphalt shingles, and we install plenty of them. Synthetic is for the homeowner who wants the house to stand out: the look of slate or hand-split cedar without the weight or the upkeep of either. We install DaVinci by Westlake Royal Building Products, the standard in the category, and because we work in everything from asphalt to metal to DaVinci, we will tell you straight which roof suits your house and your budget.
Single-width tiles that replicate traditional slate with striking accuracy.
Varied tile widths for the most authentic, non-repeating slate look.
A lightweight single-width shingle with the look of weathered slate.
Single-width shake with the character of hand-split cedar and none of the fade.
Rough-hewn shake in staggered widths with subtle color shifts.
Class 4 impact, Class A fire, and wind ratings up to 180 mph.
Free estimates across Utica, Rome, Herkimer, and the Mohawk Valley.
Any contractor can buy shingles. Very few are approved to install them at the top tier by both GAF and CertainTeed, and fewer still have been voted the best in this valley four separate times.

Great job…..they arrived bright and early and worked till dark completed roof in 1 day. Cleaned everything up. We went from metal roof to shingles. All the workers worked very well as a team there was no loafing around they were all hard workers.
I have had them out twice now to replace sections of my roof. Both times they did amazing work. They left the area clean when they were done, even taking extra care around all of the plants as to not damage anything. Great work and communication.
We just got a new roof with this company. Pete and Gina are fantastic. Their financing through Green Sky was quick and easy. Their workers worked really fast and did a great job, all the way to the end with great clean up. They were done in one day.

DaVinci tiles are an engineered composite cast from virgin polymer resins with UV and thermal stabilizers and a specialized fire retardant. That is a different class of product from budget synthetics pressed out of recycled plastics and rubber, and it is why the color and shape hold for decades.
Not from DaVinci. The molds are cast from actual slate and hand-split cedar, complete with chisel marks, and the tiles come in varied widths so the pattern never repeats. From the street it reads as the real thing, which is exactly the point.
Much lighter. Natural slate is heavy enough that many homes need structural work before it can go on. DaVinci gives you the same look at a fraction of the weight, so it installs on a standard roof frame with no reinforcement.
Very well. The tiles carry a Class 4 impact rating, the highest there is, and they do not absorb water, so freeze and thaw cycles do not crack them the way they crack natural slate and wood. Wind ratings run up to 180 mph.
Often, yes. Many insurers offer discounts for roofs with a Class 4 impact rating and a Class A fire rating, and DaVinci carries both. Ask your carrier, and we will supply the product documentation they need.
No. We recommend DaVinci synthetic slate instead. You get the slate look without the weight, the fragile tiles, or the specialty repairs, and it goes on a standard roof frame. When the subject is slate, this is the roof we point people to.
A new roof or new siding does not have to wait on a lump sum. We offer fixed rate plans and deferred interest financing through the GreenSky® Program, and we will match the right plan to your project when we quote it.
Our crews work within about 25 miles of the Utica shop, covering Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, and Onondaga Counties. If your town is on this list, we can be out to look at your roof this week.
