A full roof installation means taking the old roof down to the deck and rebuilding it as a system, not laying new shingles over the old ones. We remove every layer, inspect and repair the decking underneath, then install new underlayment, ice and water shield, ventilation, flashing, and shingles.
Layover jobs are cheaper, and they are why so many Mohawk Valley roofs fail early. You cannot see rotten decking through a second layer of shingles, and the extra weight shortens the life of everything above it. If your roof still has years left in it, we will tell you that and quote a repair instead.

There is no single number, and a contractor who quotes one before seeing the roof is guessing. Four things set the price: the size of the roof measured in squares, the pitch, the material you choose, and how many old layers have to come off. The fifth is the one nobody can price in advance. We cannot see the condition of the deck underneath until the old roof is off, and on a roof that has been leaking for a while some of that plywood is usually soft. Our written estimate carries a per sheet price for decking replacement, so if we find rot you already know what it costs rather than getting a phone call mid job. Estimates are free and itemized.
Most full roof replacements are done in a single day. Larger or steeper roofs, and jobs where we find rotted decking underneath, can run into a second day. We tell you which one you are looking at before we start rather than partway through.
If the shingles are curling or losing granules across the whole roof, or the roof is past about twenty years, it is usually replacement territory. Damage in one area, around a chimney or a valley, is often a repair. We come out and look, and if your roof still has years left in it we will tell you that and quote the repair instead.
